Privacy policy

What we collect on this site, why, and the choices you keep — under EU and Israeli privacy law.

Last updated: 21 September 2026

Who we are and what this covers

This site is operated by NetMagen, Yaar Odem 6, Lod, Israel (“we”). We are the controller of the personal data described here, and you can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@netmagen.com.

The policy covers netmagen.com — the site, the blog and the ways you contact us through them. We apply the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to visitors from the EU/EEA, and the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, including Amendment 13, to everyone.

When you contact us

The site has no account system. The quote wizard is the one form that submits to our server: when you press send, your answers and contact details are transmitted to us, stored in our database, and forwarded to our team as a private Telegram notification so we can respond quickly. The wizard is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, and we record the request's IP address to prevent abuse.

Whether you use the wizard, call or email us, we receive what you share — typically your name, contact details, property type and the systems you are interested in. We use it to answer you, prepare a quote and provide the service, and for nothing else.

What is collected automatically

Like practically every website, our web server keeps short-lived technical logs — IP address, time, requested page, browser signature — used only to keep the site secure and to diagnose faults.

Every page of this site also reports a first-party measurement signal to our own server — the page viewed, the previous page or site that led here, the type of device and browser, the connection type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and how far the page was read. To recognise a returning browser we keep a random identifier in your browser's local storage for 13 months from your last visit; your IP address is kept for 90 days, then reduced to a one-way hash and a network prefix. Apart from the location lookup described under “Who we share data with”, this data stays with us, is never shared with advertising networks, and is not sent at all when your browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

The same measurement runs in the NetMagen Vision web portal, where it is linked to your account so we can see which parts of the portal are used. You can switch the measurement off for the browser you are using with the “Site measurement” control in the footer of the website pages (netmagen.com and the blog); the choice is kept in that browser and applies to the portal as well.

Analytics — only with your consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It loads only after you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner; until then not a single analytics request leaves your browser. If you allow it, Google sets the _ga cookies (kept up to about 14 months) and receives usage data on our behalf.

Google may process this data outside the EEA and Israel under the European Commission's approved safeguards. You can withdraw your consent at any moment via “Cookie settings” in the footer — the analytics cookies are then removed and analytics stays off.

Cookies and local storage

The complete inventory of what this site keeps in your browser:

  • Your cookie choice — kept in the browser's local storage for 12 months, so we do not ask again on every visit.
  • A short session flag that stops the opening animation from replaying — it disappears when the tab closes.
  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga and similar) — only after you allow analytics, for up to about 14 months.
  • A sign-in cookie in the staff area of the blog — set only for our own staff, never for visitors.
  • A random measurement identifier in local storage (nm-vid), kept for 13 months from your last visit, so that a returning browser is counted once rather than as a new visitor each time; alongside it, a short-lived visit marker (nm-sid) that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and, if you switch the measurement off, the flag that remembers that choice (nm-optout).

You can also clear or block any of these with your browser's own controls; the site keeps working without them.

Legal bases

Under the GDPR we rely on:

  • Your consent — for analytics; it can be withdrawn at any time.
  • Our legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, measuring how the site and the portal are used so we can improve them, and answering when you contact us.
  • Steps prior to a contract — preparing the quote you asked for.
  • Legal obligations — where Israeli or EU law requires us to keep or disclose information.

How long we keep data

Enquiry correspondence and quote requests are kept while we handle your request and any service relationship that follows — and you can ask us to delete a quote request at any time. Server logs are rotated after a short period. Site measurement records are kept in detail for 13 months and the IP address within them for 90 days; only aggregate statistics with no personal data are kept longer. Analytics data follows the retention described above. When data is no longer needed, we delete it.

Who we share data with

We never sell personal data. It is shared only with the providers involved in running this site and answering you — our hosting provider; Google, when you have allowed analytics and for reCAPTCHA on the quote form (Google's Privacy Policy and Terms apply); ip-api.com, which receives your IP address and returns an approximate location (country, region, city) and the network operator; and Telegram, which carries the quote-request notification to our team over a private channel — and with authorities when the law genuinely requires it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and a portable copy, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent at any time.

Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Law you are entitled to inspect information held about you and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted.

Write to contact@netmagen.com and we will answer promptly. You may also complain to your local EU supervisory authority or to the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority — though we would appreciate the chance to resolve it directly first.

Children

The site is aimed at property owners and businesses, not at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If our actual practices change, this page changes with them and the date above is updated. Material changes will be flagged clearly on the site.

The NetMagen Vision app and your recorder

This section covers the NetMagen Vision phone app — the iPhone and Android editions — and the recorder service behind it. Everything above about the website still applies; what follows is specific to the app. The short version: your cameras’ video belongs to you, it is not our product, and the app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Your NetMagen account

Creating an account takes an email address and a password. We use the email address to identify your account, to connect your phone to your recorder, and for messages about your service — never for marketing you did not ask for. Passwords are never stored in readable form — only a salted hash. When you sign in, your phone receives a session key that is kept in the phone’s encrypted store — the iPhone’s Keychain or Android’s Keystore-protected storage. You can end a session at any time by signing out on the phone, and sessions can also be revoked from your NetMagen desktop.

Your cameras and your video

Local mode works without any account. The app talks directly to IP cameras on your own Wi-Fi network; the camera addresses and passwords you enter are stored only on your phone, in that same encrypted store, and video travels straight from the camera to the phone. Nothing about Local mode — not the video, not the camera list, not the scan of your network that finds the cameras — is ever sent to NetMagen.

Remote mode shows you the cameras attached to your own NetMagen recorder when you are away from home. Video streams from your recorder to your phone through a NetMagen relay server over an encrypted, certificate-pinned connection — the app refuses the connection outright if the server cannot prove it is yours. The relay forwards your video; it does not keep it — nothing is retained beyond the few seconds of in-flight buffering a live stream needs. Your recordings live on your recorder, in your home or business; NetMagen holds no copy of them.

Detection features (people and licence plates)

Your recorder can detect people and read vehicle licence plates in your cameras’ footage. The analysis runs on your recorder. Detection snapshots and plate readings sync to your account on netmagen.com so the app can show them; they are visible only to your account and are kept until you delete them or delete your account. These features describe what your own cameras saw; NetMagen does not use them to identify people across customers or for any purpose of its own.

What stays on your phone

Snapshots and exported clips are saved only where you put them — the app’s own storage or, when you choose, your photo library (the gallery on Android). The app can add to your photo library but cannot read it. Your preferences (camera list, playback settings) stay on the device. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDKs, and it sends us no usage statistics.

What the app sends us

Exactly two kinds of data leave the app for NetMagen: your account email and password when you sign in, and the signed requests the service needs to operate (which identify your account and your recorder). That is the complete list. This matches the app’s privacy declarations on the App Store and on Google Play: Email Address — linked to you, used for app functionality, not used for tracking.

Keeping and deleting app and account data

Account data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account — and with it the account data NetMagen holds, including detection data — from the app’s Settings page: the Delete account link opens netmagen.com, where the deletion completes after we re-confirm it is you. You can also start from the website directly. Deleting the app from your phone removes everything it stored there, including the entries in the phone’s encrypted store. Everything in “Your rights” above — access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability — applies to app and account data exactly as it does to website data; write to contact@netmagen.com.

Who we share app data with

We sell nothing. Beyond the sharing already described for the website, app and recorder traffic passes through our hosting infrastructure provider, bound to process it only for us. Apple and Google provide app distribution through the App Store and Google Play; if you have enabled sharing crash reports with developers in your phone’s settings (“Share with App Developers” on iOS, “Usage & diagnostics” on Android), Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.

Legal bases for the app and service

For EU/EEA users: performance of the contract with you (operating your account, relaying your video), legitimate interests (securing the service — request signing, certificate pinning, abuse prevention), and consent where we ask for it. For everyone else, the Israeli Privacy Protection Law applies as described above.
