An NVR may record every supported security camera while decoding only a smaller set, or lower-quality streams, for simultaneous playback. Choose the recorder by testing its stated decoding combinations against the streams, layouts and review tasks you will actually use.
Choose object detection when you want selective alerts for people or vehicles. Keep pixel motion detection where broad activity recording is useful, and test both under the actual lighting and viewing conditions.
A camera certificate warning appears when the browser cannot verify the login page’s identity. Confirm that the device, address, hostname and clock are correct before bypassing the warning or changing the certificate setup.
A camera’s near blind zone depends on two separate limits: how closely the lens can focus and where the mounting geometry allows the camera to see. Plan the nearest point that needs usable detail, then verify it in the installed scene under daytime and night conditions.
A camera usually stays black and white because too little visible light reaches its sensor, night mode is forced in the settings, the power supply is unstable, or the infrared cut filter cannot return to its daytime position. Check the actual light at the camera, review day-night settings and test the power path before treating it as a camera failure.
Security camera depth of field determines how much of a scene, from foreground to background, appears acceptably sharp. Focus should be set around the area where useful recorded detail matters most, then checked separately in daylight and darkness.
Set pre-event recording long enough to preserve the approach to an event, and post-event recording long enough to show the action finishing. Then test both windows with real movement in each camera’s actual scene, because detection timing, traffic and storage demand differ from one camera to another.
Choose optical zoom when the camera needs to capture closer detail through the lens. Use digital zoom as a viewing tool for enlarging detail already present in live or recorded images; it cannot recover detail that was never captured.
CCTV images flicker under indoor LED lighting when camera exposure captures rapid changes in light output from the LED driver. The result may appear as pulsing brightness or horizontal bands, particularly when exposure timing and the lighting cycle do not align.
