If recording continues while the monitor has no picture, troubleshoot the local display path first: check the monitor input, display cable, recorder output and display settings. Do not change camera settings or factory-reset the recorder until you have confirmed that the recording system itself is at fault.
CCTV images flicker under indoor LED lighting when camera exposure captures rapid changes in light output from the LED driver. The result may appear as pulsing brightness or horizontal bands, particularly when exposure timing and the lighting cycle do not align.

Check whether recording continues locally, identify which devices fail together, and then test one part of the path at a time rather than repeatedly restarting the whole system.
An outdoor camera usually turns hazy or soft because of dirt or residue on the exposed surface, moisture inside the housing, infrared reflection, difficult lighting, a damaged camera cover or incorrect focus. The pattern of the blur—where it appears, when it appears and whether it changes with the weather—usually points to the right cause.
Read the displayed zone number, match it to the relevant door contact, window sensor or detector, and check that the opening is fully closed and the magnetic contact is aligned. If the zone still shows open, record the exact message and arrange diagnosis rather than repeatedly bypassing it.
When live view works but recordings are missing, check archive time and playback filters, recording schedules and motion actions, storage status, and recent power or network interruptions. Do not initialise or format storage until existing recordings have been preserved or assessed.
