Choose local accounts for direct control, cloud accounts for simpler remote management, or a carefully configured hybrid when both matter. Privacy depends less on the label and more on account ownership, individual permissions, secure recovery, camera placement and control of the recorder.

Choose an opening contact for clear open-or-closed detection, a shock sensor for impact or vibration detection, and both only where the opening, frame and normal use justify layered detection.
Plan separate views for faces, vehicles and number plates whenever each target needs useful detail. Choose positions and framing around the real pedestrian and vehicle paths, then judge the result from recorded footage made under the actual daylight, darkness, headlights and gate lighting.

Find water ingress by disconnecting power, opening the connection in dry conditions and following the moisture trail upward along the box and cable. PoE power negotiation allows a camera and power source to establish compatible power delivery before normal operation begins.
