Choose constant bitrate when predictable network demand and archive planning matter most. Choose variable bitrate when the priority is allocating data efficiently as image complexity changes. Plan an outdoor network cabinet around permanent shade, the heat produced by its equipment, controlled airflow, sealed bottom cable entries and enough working space for regular maintenance. The right cooling method depends on both the internal heat load and the cabinet’s actual exposure to dust, humidity, rain and irrigation.
Set each camera’s retention according to its purpose, scene activity and likely review delay. Give important entrances, gates and transaction views more archive depth than low-value overview scenes. Because cameras share recorder storage and real usage varies, confirm the result by playing back the oldest available footage rather than relying only on a storage estimate.
Size an alarm panel by listing every distinct detection zone, identifiable user, controlled output and independently armed partition, then allow spare electronic and physical capacity for later changes.
Choose a fixed lens when the required view is already clear and unlikely to change. Choose a varifocal lens when the security camera installer needs optical control over framing, viewing angle and subject detail after the camera has been mounted.
